Apply Now: ProVention Research & Action Grants on Disaster Risk Reduction Research

The ProVention Grants Programme supports multi-disciplinary projects linking disaster risk reduction research and practice managed by young professionals. Launched in 2003, the Grant programme has provided support up to USD 5,000 to 119 projects in 40 developing countries. For the 2007-2008 grant cycle, students and young professionals from development countries are invited to propose creative projects and innovative ideas for support related to, but not limited to, disaster risk reduction, community resilience, local risk analysis, education, recovery and climate adaptation. Applicants and up to 2 additional team members must be under 35 years of age at the time of application, and must be citizens of a developing country. The team leader, host organisation and mentor should be based in the country where the project will be conducted. Preference will be given to projects involving 2 or 3 team members from different disciplines, engaging different sectors (academic, public, NGO or community, private), and coached by mentors from more than one field or sector. The deadline for proposal submission is on the 15th of July 2007. Find more information here.
