JAMBI, Jambi province: A powerful storm hit Gununglabu village in Kayuaro district, Kerinci regency, on Tuesday, damaging as many as 30 houses.
The storm occurred as most residents were working the fields. No casualties were reported but a resident was taken to the hospital due to trauma.
“The storm hit suddenly,” said Sukimin, head of the village.
More than 150 people were forced to evacuate to safer areas and most were unable to salvage their belongings.
